Sancerre Rouge Vieilles Vignes

This cuvée is made from grapes grown on the estate’s oldest vines. Its only difference from our other wines is the age of the vines that produce the grapes that go into its production. These old vines bear few grapes, but those they bear are of excellent quality, lending structure and power as well as elegance and finesse to the wine.
This cuvée does not come from one particular terroir; it is most often a blend of wines made with grapes grown on different terroirs such as “caillottes” and Kimmeridgian marls, both of which are predominantly limestone based.

Our red “Vieilles Vignes” cuvée stands out for its aromatic richness and fullness on the palate. It shows intense colour and predominant notes of red and black berries (Morello cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry) on the nose. All of these aromas are well-integrated on the palate, supported by silky, focused tannins. 15 to 18 months of ageing in oak barrels gives this wine more intense concentration, more complex structure with firmer tannins. All of these elements result in a generous wine.

It is the perfect accompaniment to red meats and game. It may be cellared for 10 years or more.
